| The documentary "Kampf um die Ostsee - das Wrack der Hedvig Sophia" by Kirsten Hoehne, Spiegel-TV/Arte/ZDF, including vast CGIs by tricky-gbr from Hamburg
has recently been awared with the Cinarchea movie award for underwater archeology. |
| The movie reports about a sea battle in the Baltic Sea in 1715. It ends up with the shipwrecking and scuttling of the swedish flagship Hedvig Sophia which is nowadays examined by underwater archeologists. |
| The tricky team designed the CGIs/VFX of the sea battle as well as various visuals mainly inside of Cinema 4D. For a specially demanding shot mud clouds at the bottom of the sea were created by VisualFX 3d artist Felix Roth. He exclusively used DPIT Effex for this task. In this dramatic scene a canon ball crashes into the sea ground after it has smashed through the inner ground planks of the Hedvig Sophia. The swedish flagship was agrounded and the staff tried to destroy the ship themselves to prevent hostile acquisition. |
| "The handling of the canon ball crash using DPIT Effex was extremely easy to accomplish. Only a single emitter with a lot of pressure and Effex own vorticity particles coupled with a ground and boulder obstacle were enough to create a convincing billowing mud cloud. I supported the simulation results with stock footage which was put on top of the rendered fluids in post. Effex was really essential and a pleasure to work with.", said Felix Roth. |
