Renderbaron used DPIT Plants to create black smokers

Black Smokers by Renderbaron

For the ZDF (german Broadcaster) documentary "Abenteuer Wissen" Marc Potocnik, a certified designer from Düsseldorf (Germany), realised several 3D animations about "Bodenschätze am Meeresgrund" ("Natural Resources on the seabed") for the film production company taglichtmedia.

For visualising the impressive deep sea volcanos named "Black Smokers" he exclusively used DPIT Plants. For the modeling of the Black Smokers the multi-functional DPIT Tree object was used. He generated compact treelike exaltations with it that he furthermore visually improved with displace deformers and complex layer-shaders within Cinema 4D.

With the DPIT Transplant object about 10000 stones of varying sizes were distributed on the digital sea bed, which was an easy task thanks to DPIT Plants.

Marc Potocnik, known as "Renderbaron", has been working as a specialist for visual effects and visualisation since 2001.
