Renderbaron & Katachi - Shave and a Plant cut
renderbaron, studio for animated images and design in Düsseldorf (Germany) produces on behalf of JWT Düsseldorf 3d-animated tv commercials for Wilkinson Sword on a regular base. For the television commercial "Quattro for women bikini" the renderbaron CEO Marc Potocnik 3d animated and staged the product including packaging and environment inside of Cinema 4D.

The animation has been - as usual at renderbaron - lighted without the help of Global Illumination. The render-engine in use was the Advanced Render 3 module and the compositing was done in After Effects. For the 3d animated ornamental trees of the shaver sequence reinforcement was provided by DPIT Plants developer Samir Kharchi, who modelled the trees and animated the pruning morph of them. "DPIT Plants is a production tool and it was so perfect for the job. However, although pruning is available in Plants I still had to code some additional functionality to achieve the results the client was looking for. I implemented an extension to the tree object and the tree tool which allowed me to store the procedural pruning result of the tree object and fine-prune that result interactively with the tree tool. These additions will find their way into the next major DPIT Plants update.", says Samir Kharchi. The ad is on air until June, 13th on german commercial television (RTL, SAT1, Pro7, VOX and others).
